Insurance for motorhomes and campervans is known as motorhome insurance. Damage, accidents, and theft are all covered under this policy for you, your vehicle, and any passengers. Motorhome insurance, like car insurance, is mandated by law.

When is Motorhome Insurance required?

Most states require motorhome owners to have a minimum limit of liability coverage. But, in some cases, you may find that you're required to carry other types of coverage. For instance:

• Financing a motorhome
  If you're financing your motorhome through a lender, your lender may require you to carry comprehensive and collision coverage on the vehicle until it is paid off.
• Renting a motorhome
  While your home or auto insurance may provide limited protection for a motorhome that you rent rather than own, a temporary policy through the rental company may help cover you in additional scenarios.
